With triple-digit temps a given, August in the great state of Texas is a bit of a beating. Anyone who has anywhere else to go, beats a hasty retreat from the steam and sweat. Sister Allison is one of those lucky few able to escape. Allison's annual summer pilgrimage to Maine gives her an enviable break from the heat AND she returns with loads of images for her very happy rep. :)
None other than our very own Sister Allison, of course! You may recall back in May, I mentioned Allison was in Loving County, Texas (least populous county in the U.S.) The story ran in Rotterdam newspaper, NRC Handelsblad. Naturally.
And just as you would expect, the images take you strait to the heart of Loving.

Last month, Sister Allison was assigned to shoot the Chef Point Cafe in Watagua, Texas for the New York Times travel section. This fine dining establishment is located in a Conoco gas station near Fort Worth and famous for their winning waffles and friend chicken combination. Don't knock it til you try it!

It's not every day that a job comes along that seems to have your name written all over it. A job that you might dream up at night and call it a fantasy. Sister Allison is thanking her big ol' Texan lucky stars for the Fort Worth Opera and Matchbox Studio who handed her just such a job.
The 2011 Fort Worth Opera season guide is a zine-publishing, iPhone/Hasselblad/Lomo-shooting, proud proud Texan photographer's dream come true. Have a look - you'll see what I mean.
For photographers as prolific as Sister Allison, there are hardly enough homes available for all of the images she produces. By now, you know her blog and her zines and of course her agency's website but maybe you don't know about her Flickr feed. Dang. So much work.
